The Community Inclusion Action Team

A sustainable community is an inclusive community — one that honors diversity and respects the needs and perspectives of all members of the community.

Many of the goals and actions outlined in the Community Inclusion section of the Community Sustainability Action Plan are being addressed by the Community Alliance for Diversity (CAD).  Individuals who would like to help make Corvallis a more welcoming community are encouraged to contact CAD to find out how they can help.

Community Inclusion: Vision

In 2020 Corvallis is a community that integrates diversity; works actively against prejudice, bigotry, and hate; that promotes social justice; and celebrates
the talents and cultures of the people who live here. All people of Corvallis have a sense of belonging to the community.

Community Inclusion: Goals

1. By 2010, describe who is here in Corvallis and facilitate communication with the whole community.

2. By 2010, foster understanding and respect for 100% of the members of our community through new community events.

Community Inclusion: Current Projects

1. Map the community: develop a complete and accurate description of who lives here and where.

2. Describe communication networks: understand how people get information about our community.

3. Create avenues for communicating with community at large.

4. Develop an annual multicultural bazaar.

5. Coordinate a high-profile series of events around a “culture of the month” theme. (Similar to OSU Life-long Learners Program and Montessori international curriculum)
