Faith Community Education
We work with local faith communities to help educate their congregations about waste prevention. Thus far we have 15 local churches participating, and we will reach out to more faith communities in the future. We provide the following services:
- Short, seasonal messages on ways to prevent waste to share with church leaders and volunteers for use in newsletters, bulletin boards or other communications. Among the topics covered are conserving paper at the office and at home and reducing waste when shopping, during the various holidays, on camping weekends and during children’s parties [Download the list of messages here];
- Audits of their curbside trash and commingled recycling carts, followed up with specific recommendations;
- Guidance on setting up a recycling system in their facilities; and
- Speakers who can talk to adult or youth groups about waste prevention, recycling and reuse opportunities.

Volunteers conduct a waste audit at First Congregational United Church of Christ in June 2010.
