Local Sustainability Champions

John

Meet John…

This past year, my wife and I bought a new Energy Star refrigerator, and we got a $100 rebate as part of the Energy Trust’s appliance program.  At the same time, we recycled our old energy guzzler.  Jaco Environmental picked up our old refrigerator for free, and we got an additional $50 check in the mail. Ninety-five percent of the components of that old guzzler will be re-used.  And we’re also saving money on our electricity bill since refrigerators manufactured before 1993 consume 2-3 times more energy than the new energy efficient models. So Jeanne and I will save about $100 per year in energy costs.  Now that’s a great deal!
