Local Sustainability Champions

Meet Peter…

Food…………Try to live without it……..After air and water, food is the basis of sustaining individual and community life.

Peter

So, since I’m a terrible gardener, I figure the best way I can contribute to keeping us all alive, is by investing my money in growing local food. And The Willamette Valley has some of the richest, most fertile farmland in the world.

Last year, I learned about a local investment organization called Farmland LP, run by Jason Bradford, which acquires unsustainable conventional farmland, and converts it into certified organic, sustainable farmland. I’ve got to tell you, it feels so good to invest in something that is 100% in line with my fundamental values.  As an investor in Farmland LP, I’m actually helping to create permanent local jobs and put local food on our tables.  And owning organic farmland will provide income for me in normal times and food security for all of us in bad times.
