Children are our future. We’re helping them become lifelong learners who model environmental, social, and economic sustainability in their daily lives.
We collaborate with local schools to support their sustainability efforts. We meet regularly, share what’s happening at the schools where we volunteer, and learn what we can do to help advance sustainability practices and curricula at our schools.
PROJECTS & EVENTS
The Green Apple Award

The Green Apple Award is an initiative to promote sustainability in the Corvallis School District and to demonstrate community support for the district’s commitment to preparing our students to be good stewards of the earth. This award was developed through a partnership between the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s Education Action Team and the Corvallis Public Schools Foundation, and will go towards celebrating and rewarding staff members who make significant contributions to implementing sustainability learning in the district.
Supporting School Green Teams

For several years, members of the Education Action Team have been helping to support the Sustainability Leaders and school “green teams” at each of our public schools. Volunteers help educate students about things like recycling, reducing food waste and composting, how to perform a waste audit, the importance of trees and plants in fighting climate change, and more!
Reducing Plastics in Our Schools

Education Action Team volunteers are helping school sustainability stewards with curriculum to encourage students to develop earth-friendly practices. One example is reducing plastic use at school and at home. Lesson plans are divided by grade level (elementary, middle, and high school) and include YouTube videos, websites and actual lessons.
