Economic Vitality

Our team is working toward the vision of a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable economy anchored by a broad spectrum of local, environmentally-friendly businesses.

Our projects focus on these goals:

  • Supporting the local economy through buying, investing, and producing locally
  • Promoting sustainable practices at workplaces
  • Engaging in community networks to help people meet their needs, while minimizing resource consumption

PROJECTS & EVENTS

Buy Local First

Buy Local First is a collaborative project of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce, First Alternative Co-op, and Remarkable Arts. Our purpose is to encourage community members and local organizations to check out our local businesses FIRST when they need to purchase something. Supporting our local businesses is key to creating a sustainable local economy.

Saving Green

The Sustainability Coalition’s Saving Green program assists small and medium-sized workplaces in adopting more sustainable practices. We help businesses and other organizations save money while helping them become more energy and water efficient and also reduce their waste.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE)

PACE is a means of financing energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy installations for residential, commercial and industrial property owners. Our team performed foundational work for the program, researching how it has worked in other communities and what is required to initiate a program in Corvallis. The Corvallis-Benton County Economic Development Office is moving this program forward, and our team is ready to help promote it once it’s in place locally.
