If you are a local business owner who wants to market your business with a personal touch, meet Jeff Silverman. Jeff is the owner of Silverman Studios, a local, independent video production company that specializes in helping businesses put a face to the name. Relaxed and personable, Jeff is an expert at helping business owners tell their stories in their own words.
Why did you start your own business? I have always been interested in video production. I owned my first video camera at age 16. After working in the Corvallis area for 9 years as an advertising sales representative for HOPE Radio, I began to recognize the increasing power of video to influence people. People watch on average 24 hours per month of videos online. I saw the opportunity for helping businesses to use video to tell their story.
What is your specialty? I use unscripted video interviews with the owner of a business to capture the heart and soul of the business. Featuring the owner in the video produces an authenticity that makes the business more approachable for customers. Many times the owner is the face of the business, so using their own words to tell their story allows the passion of the owner to come across to the viewer. If you don’t know exactly what you want from your video, I will walk you through every aspect of the process.
Why should folks patronize Silverman Studios? I am a marketing consultant, as well as a videographer. I bring a marketing background to the production in addition to the artistic quality. I want to make a video that will work for the business 24/7, telling their story while increasing their sales.
What do you feel is the impact of local independent businesses on Corvallis? We bring a personal touch to the business community. When customers see the same faces and share in the camaraderie, we create a feeling of community. The Corvallis culture is very local-friendly.
What do you enjoy most about owning a local independent business? Owning your own business gives you the flexibility to change quickly to meet customers’ needs. I enjoy the freedom of trying new techniques and new technologies to solve challenges as they arise without being under someone else’s orders. My room for growth is only limited by my imagination and energy level!
What is your relationship to the community? I launched “MyCityVideos” to be Corvallis’ own online video magazine. If a non-profit organization has an event, I can produce a video at no charge and then help identify sponsors to underwrite airing the video on MyCityVideos. There are currently 20 episodes available at MyCityVideos.com for stories on World Car Free Day, the Corvallis Half Marathon, the Red White & Blues Festival and more.
