It’s On Us Corvallis is pleased to announce that an anonymous donor has pledged $20,000 in a matching challenge to raise funds to continue this unique local program. The challenge begins July 1 and concludes July 11. IOU Corvallis organizers believe that the generosity of the Corvallis community will ensure that they will reach their ambitious fundraising goal of $20,000 in the first ten days of July. All donations will go directly to restaurants that provide twice-weekly community meals. The purpose of IOU Corvallis is to support Corvallis restaurants and reinforce the spirit of goodwill through the gift of meals to community members.
It’s On Us Corvallis, a project of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s Food Action Team, is organized and run by a small group of volunteers who are passionate about food security, boosting the local economy, nourishment, and trust.
Here’s how it works: IOU Corvallis raises funds from the community that are, in turn, paid to local restaurants to provide hundreds of meals each week to community members who need a boost – no questions asked. The project was launched in April 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic, in an effort to support local restaurants and local residents. To date, more than 6,000 meals have been served.
