We are committed to raising awareness of our abundant natural areas in Corvallis and throughout Benton County. Our purpose is to ensure that everyone in the community is taking part in stewardship of the natural resources we all enjoy.
Our community goals: The acreage of protected natural habitat in Benton County will continue to increase, public and private natural areas in Benton County will be managed under a set of practices that optimizes their ecological integrity and resilience, and community participation in natural areas appreciation
programs or restoration efforts will be encouraged.
PROJECTS & EVENTS
Natural Areas Celebration Week
Natural Areas Celebration Week takes place each year during the first week in May. Hikes, walks, workshops and lectures—there’s something for everyone!
Backyard Wildlife Connections
Benton County was certified as the first Community Wildlife Habitat in Oregon by the National Wildlife Federation. Now we’re working to increase the number of certified yards. Find out how you can get your yard certified as a wildlife habitat.
Neighborhood Roots
Neighborhood Roots is a collaboration between the Natural Areas Action Team and Community Inclusion Action Team. Our purpose is to plant as many trees as possible in “tree deserts” – neighborhoods in our community that could benefit from increased tree cover.
