We’re excited to share photos and videos from our big event of the year – now available for viewing!
The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition sponsored its 16th annual Sustainability Fair and Town Hall on March 7th at the Alumni Center on the OSU campus, showcasing sustainability work that is being accomplished in the community. It was our most successful event yet, with an estimated 600 attendees and over 60 exhibits.
The Sustainability Fair featured hands-on exhibits from local organizations and businesses, such as OSU’s bike generator, a human-powered device used to generate energy. Among other exhibitor activities were a poll about how community members commute around town, arts and crafts activities, and food waste prevention Bingo. Fair goers also enjoyed locally sourced foods provided by New Morning Bakery and live music by Nick Rivard and Ben Woodman (and the Corvallis Folklore Society!) while they explored the many booths in the Alumni Center.
After the Fair, over 200 registrants filled the tables of the Alumni’s Center’s ballroom for Sustainability Town Hall presentations and table discussions. This year’s theme was “The Arts: A Portal to Sustainability”. A highlight of the program included keynote presentations by local leaders of the arts: Cynthia Spencer of The Arts Center (representing the visual arts), Carly Lettero of the Spring Creek Project (representing the written and spoken arts), and Rose Holdorf of the Tarweed Folk School (representing the practical arts). The program also included the annual “Community Scrapbook”, a slide presentation highlighting the sustainability achievements of local organizations and businesses during the past year – actions that are moving our community toward environmental quality, social equity, and economic vitality.
Thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible! We are so grateful for your support of sustainability and of our community.
