Economy & Climate Change

Economy & Climate Change

“Economy and Climate Change: How can our investments make a difference?” is an event designed to help both individuals and organizations explore how their investments can be put to work toward a just and livable future.

This virtual event is scheduled for Thursday, December 2, at 6pm. To attend, go to https://lwv.corvallis.or.us/events/economy-and-climate-change and click on the Zoom link.

Speakers/panelists include:

  • Robert Devine, author of The Sustainable Economy: The Hidden Costs of Climate Change and the Path to a Prosperous Future (Anchor Books/Penguin Random House LLC)
  • Jennifer Alix-Garcia, Dept. Head and Professor, OSU College of Agricultural Sciences, Dept. of Applied Economics
  • Kristen Taylor, Client Advisor at Mission Wealth Management LP, specializing in sustainable investing

Key questions to be addressed during their presentations are: What is the role of money in creating a sustainable economy, and how can individuals and organizations ensure that their investments are supporting companies whose goals are aligned with their values? How can policies help in this effort?

Following presentations by the panelists, audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Organized by the League of Women Voters of Corvallis Climate Change Committee.

Event co-sponsors include the League of Women Voters of Linn County, Corvallis Sustainability Coalition Economic Vitality Action Team, OSU Sustainability Office, 350 Corvallis, First United Methodist Church Environmental Care Team, Youth Climate Action Now, 500 Women Scientists, Corvallis Interfaith Climate Justice Committee, and the UUFC Climate Action Team.
